Good morning sunshine Are you ready to hear about the oppressed and fragile? Here’s some breakfast and please don’t choke I just want you to STAY WOKE.
I’ll take you through a little insight Of what it’s actually like on the other side The side that sees no light without a fight A side that struggles for a ‘normal life’
Hear it from me. The daughter of a female engineer A woman who gets paid less than her less qualified male peers A woman who works day and night Who has dedicated and devoted her life A woman who, at the age of 10, had a passion for constructing electrical lights An intellectual woman, a hard worker The inspiration and idol for her two daughters A woman who gets paid less than her less qualified male peers Hear it from me. The daughter of a female engineer
Hear it from me. The daughter of an immigrant. His incomprehensible struggles are still apparently insignificant A man who has committed his life to medicine It came from his passion for helping the helpless and innocent It came from his childhood, a life in a refugee camp A man who managed to find hope in rooms covered in damp Fought a life through emotional instability To still having to fight through the judgment of his nationality He became a doctor. Supposedly educated and respected. But his ethnicity and culture left him unprotected. His incomprehensible struggles are still apparently insignificant. Hear it from me. The daughter of an immigrant.
Hear it from me. Because I am a Palestinian. My people fight to be civilians My people fight to be recognized and classified as living citizens My unarmed people lose fights to armed militants The death the corruption the struggle the persistence The sadness the disrespect the dishonour BUT the resistance My people fight to be civilians Hear it from me. Because I am a Palestinian.
Hear it from me. I am surrounded by loved ones from all kinds of religions and races. We have all experienced different struggles of racist, misogynistic, oppressive degradations. The struggle comes in different forms and faces There’s no need for the belittling of someone else’s situation The power of unity of our people and nations The willingness to understand each other with no borders, no judgments and no labelled accusations Is what will bring us as one, against all these oppressive organizations. We have all experienced different struggles of racist, misogynistic, oppressive degradations. Hear it from me. I am surrounded by loved ones from all kinds of religions and races.
Finally. Hear it from me. I am no poet. No artist. No one ‘important’ I am not here for attention, not here for appreciation, I am not here for your entertainment. I am here because I have a few things to say. Welcome to the struggle and hope you enjoy your stay. I really hope you stay woke… and I am so sorry for your delay.
